The gooseberry is about the size of a cherry, has a hard skin and is covered with a kind of fuzz. The colour of the gooseberry can vary from green to red, depending on the variety. Depending on how ripe they are, gooseberries can range from sour to sweet.<\/p>\n\n\n

Cultivation & harvest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ideal time for planting gooseberries is October and November. Light shade and a nutrient-rich, well-drained soil provide the plant with the optimal basis for solid growth. Gooseberries ripen in the summer months between June and August. Depending on the state of ripeness, gooseberries are more or less sweet and sour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The mostly sour tasting gooseberries can be processed in many ways. Especially the high vitamin content makes the berry a healthy snack. Gooseberries can also be used in fruit salads, jams, jellies or compotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Storage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
